Hey all, sorry for the english, seems I'm gonna have to learn italian as well as german to get the best from the fritz!box  anyway....

This is mainly a message for massinge but if anyone else can help that's great  So, massinge, I've seen you've said you have a 5050 running with English firmware (and possibly annex A too), and I just found these downloads: http://www2.skizzo3000.it/fritz/index.asp?id=14 So I guess it's really true that there's an english firmware for it 

My question is just, how should I go about using it? Could you point me in the direction of some simple, working instructions as it's kinda hard to figure out what means what when half the stuffs in german and others in italian and babelfish is no good at either and even with perfect english instructions firmware updates are kinda risky so I need all the help I can get  Also, if you have any pointers or anything, like anything I should or shouldn't do, and what I can expect (are any of them annex a? is it easy to get annex a? do i just load the firmware over default firmware? is it ok doing it over a 1&1 branded firmware?) then that'd be great to know too  And any other links to 5050 must-have howtos are good too, I can't really figure out what's good and what's not when it's in a poorly translated babelfish version

I loaded in 5050 1&1 the firmware of 7050 version 14.04.26 english annex A, changing variables and doing recovery.
I just disables WLAN from web interface and now 5050 works perfectly in english and annex A.

in ftp do:

quote SETENV annex,A
quote SETENV HWRevision,77
quote SETENV ProductID,Fritz_Box_7050_AnnexA
quote SETENV firmware_version,avme
quote SETENV firmware_info,14.04.26

then use fritz.box_fon_wlan_7050.annexa.en.04.26.recover-image.exe

Please don't use the 7050's firmware (if you  dont'want  all led blinking).

Please follow this simple step:
1) upgrade your firmware  to 12.04.31 original avm;

2) go to annex a by this file (upload it to the fritz box's web interface:  "firmware Update" ,)

3) restart your fritz and then you can unbranding your firmware by this file:

4) You can use this (upload via web interface to the fritz box):

5) always via  firmware-update you must change brand to avme to have all options by this firmware:

The only bit I'm not sure about is step 1 - "upgrade your firmware  to 12.04.31 original avm". Is it ok to do this just from the regular 1&1 branded firmware? Or should I change the brand to AVM from 1und1 first?
EDIT: oh nevermind, just saw the "p.s.: if you wont get back to the original firmware  12.04.31  you must follow first the step 3" bit  So, step 3, 1, 2, (3?) ,4 ,5? 

Anyway, once I've done I hope it's ok if I come back here and add some "good" english instructions :p Not that there's anything wrong with yours Also, is the 5050_EN_04.36_alpa-b0.3.rar file an original AVM english version or did someone do an english translation? If so, and because even the AVM one is a little strangely translated, how could I go about helping you translate it better? I'm not the best speller but I am english and have at least some experience with networking / voip / user interfaces so I'm sure I could correct a few small things if anything doesn't sound quite right.

IF you want to turn back to the original firmware You must  follow ONLY step 3), and upload via the fritz box web interface the original firmware 12.04.31 annex B de.

the leds stop blinking when you disable wlan. trust me and use 7050 firmware.

@_stefano: non è così.. l'ho provato proprio ieri sul mio , anche disabilitando il wlan i led lampeggiano ugualmente. Inoltre il firmware che sto fornendo ha alcuni particolari che nel 14.04.26 non ci sono. Ciao!




@stefano: this is not the case .. I tried on my own yesterday, even disabling the wlan all led doesn't stop to blink anyway. Furthermore, the firmware I'm giving it some details that there aren't in to the 14.04.26.

ma col firmware del 7050 e wlan disabilitata funziona come un 7050

ho confrontato l'hardware. 5050 e 7050 sono identici a parte la wlan

@_stefano: Non volevo contraddirti ma probabilmente dipende dalla versione hardware.. Non voglio dire che la procedura che hai seguito sia meno efficace, ma magari qualche opzione + aggiornata sul firmware non guasta, no?

hey massinge, I just followed your steps and all went perfect until step 5. I had Annex A and english web pages, then went to Firmware Update > selected inglese.tar > Update, then the INFO led blinked as normal, then it stopped, then the Power light blinked as normal.

But I can't get back to any web pages now (192.168.178.1 doesn't show anything). Also, once every minute ALL the lights blink once and the box seems to restart (LAN connection drops then restarts). Any ideas what's happened and if I can fix it? Thanks.

The last one I think cancels the red "you have used telnet to moidfy blah blah..." warning messsage in the firmware? Don't know if maybe the names messed something up or what...

yes.. there is a backup of old install file but it doesn't matter..

You can resume web interface by this simple step (and stop blinking leds) :

1) connect the fritz! Box with the cable Lan port on the LAN A (not plug the  Power cable)
2) open a ftp session in dos with Run, type cmd windows (will open a window dos)
3) type ftp 192.168.178.1 (but not press enter at the end of the string)
4) Now turn the fritz! Box and within 5 seconds press enter
repeat if you can not have the loging after enter the username and password are
adam2, adam2, insert into tiny houses are sensitive.

there will appear what is written below:

5) included the following phrases always respecting the uppercase and lowercase:

The Fritz Box will restart and you can view your FritzBox Web Interface.

The file inglese.tar: i'm going to modify it immediately you can download it again from the same link. it's now new tested version.

is there a way to list available variables for firmware_version? I'm thinking maybe it only has a 1und1 one?
