Appello della Voice on the Net Coalition alla Ue: i carrier limitano la libertà di scelta degli utenti.

Dopo la decisione presa la scorsa settimana da T-Mobile, che ha scelto di bloccare l'utilizzo di Skype su iPhone, si muovono i protagonisti del VoIp.

L'associazione Voice on the Net Coalition ha dunque presentato un appello all'Unione Europea, sottolineando come le azioni dei carrier, intenzionati a bloccare le applicazioni VoIp sulle reti mobili, di fatto rappresentino una limitazione alla libertà di scelta dei consumatori.

T-Mobile aveva giustificato la sua decisione di bloccare l'utilizzo di Skype sulle proprie reti, sottolineando che l'elevato volume di traffico generato dalle comunicazioni VoIp avrebbe penalizzato le performance complessive della sua rete, ma la spiegazione non aveva convinto i player del comparto, sicuri, dal canto loro, che il rifiuto di T-Mobile sia legato piuttosto a timori di mancato guadagno.

Analoghe rimostranze si stanno registrando negli Stati Uniti, dove At&t ed Apple hanno deciso il blocco dell'utilizzo di Skype sulla rete 3G.
Anche in questo caso un appello, rivolto dall'associazione Free Press alla Federal Communications Commission.

è evidente che la crescita del Voip su dispositivi portatili danneggia gli operatori di telefonia mobile e non (mancati introiti) , al dì là di Skype.

ma.. il traffico dati viene comunque tariffato... non capisco dove siano i mancati introiti..

Se si potesse sfruttare appieno su device mobili la voip con oneste ed abbordabili flat dati; ci si renderebbe subito conto della diversità dei costi per gli utenti; e quindi dei mancati introiti degli operatori.

..... per non parlare della frammistione di interessi e partecipazioni fra le compagnie di telefonia mobile e residenziale (talvolta le stesse, talvolta conosciute, talvolta in forma di "cartello")
